Dino Crisis Fan-Made Remake

Dino Crisis (1999)

Dino crisis? What Dino crisis? Oh yes, the escaped dinosaurs running riot around a secret island research facility that, for copyright reasons, had absolutely nothing to do with Jurassic Park. Developed by Capcom, the creators of Resident Evil, Dino Crisis was intended as ‘panic horror’ rather than survival horror, with pterodactyls swooping from the night sky and raptors leaping out at you from dark corners like bitey pranksters. Otherwise, this was basically Resident Evil, and we’ve already covered how amazing that was.

Dino Crisis

Even Capcom tried its hand at expanding its Resident Evil formula, with Dino Crisis being the next most recognizable example. As the name would suggest, Dino Crisis was a predictable but no less effective mix of Resident Evil with Jurassic Park by replacing zombies with dinosaurs.

Another now-deleted Reddit user stated, "PS1: Dino Crisis," and it's become a somewhat sad trope online as the cult-classic game has had its fans begging for a remaster or a remake for over a decade now. The game received a strong reception for this inventive blend while also doing well enough with its premise to stand on its own. Dinosaur threats added a noticeably heightened pace and tension

Dino Crisis 2

Unsurprisingly, Dino Crisis 2 was also given a mention after the original. The sequel follows the events of the first game, with irresponsible research into time travel, transporting an entire military base and city into prehistoric time along with its inhabitants. Redditor jda494 responded to the aforementioned suggestion of Dino Crisis, saying "You mentioned Dino Crisis and Onimusha. I think we just became best friends. Though personally, I'd rather Dino Crisis 2. So much fun."

The second game was also well-received thanks to expanding into a wider jungle-themed setting and padding out the roster of wild dinosaurs. Resident Evil 2's remake cemented itself as one of the best horror games, and while a full-blown remake of both Dino Crisis games in the RE Engine would be much more deserved, a remastered collection would at least be a compromise.

We do not know if anyone in Capcom is actually thinking about reviving the concept of survival horror with dinosaurs created by Mikami, but we can say with certainty that we would welcome the idea with hearts in turmoil and eyes full of joy; we loved Dino Crisis for his crazy desire to experiment while remaining on the safe side (he is not made up of the new PS Plus), for this reason he doesn’t deserve the sad silence that has surrounded him for many years.

Dino Crisis – One of the Capcom franchises that should definitely return

The best thing that could happen is that Capcom announces a new Dino Crisis right at this moment and this article becomes obsolete in its publication. Yes, it has to happen soon. We would be very happy! But Capcom is not sure about it. We are aware that the company remembers the game, because it usually makes references to the franchise, but a new game? Nothing of that at all.

A few days ago, Capcom celebrated the 23th anniversary of the series and even mentioned it on social networks. There are also rumors of the arrival of the first Dino Crisis to the PlayStation Plus classics. But Capcom needs a new Dino Crisis or at least a remake of the original two episodes.

5 Capcom Franchises That Should Return to Make Gamers Happy

Dino Crisis 1: a revolution in the world of the horror genre

The influence of Resident Evil was easily recognizable. Dino Crisis had its own "Jill Valentine" (Regina), the same system of fixed camera, searching for weapons and ammo, as well as a distinctive "save room", in which current progress in the story could be saved with memorable music that aimed to provide the player a few moments of relaxation before continuing with the horror adventure. What was special about Dino Crisis 1 were as many as four ways to end the story, depending on the decisions the player makes at key moments. This was a great novelty for that period, and today it is considered an extremely valuable component of contemporary titles. Critics gave Dino Crisis 1 extremely high marks: GameSpot 8.5 and IGN 9.2/10. By the way, the most knowledgeable fans of the franchise testify on the online encyclopedia dedicated to Dino Crisis that the original writer imagined the game in a different way, as a fight against snakes and gorillas in the jungle, but such a potentially unsuccessful project completely transformed the "mage" of the horror genre - the legendary Shinji Mikami (Shinji Mikami). Mikami is perhaps the most famous name in the gaming community, especially among fans of the horror genre, and will be remembered as the creator of one of the most successful franchises ever – Resident Evil (125 million copies sold so far).

Dino Crisis 2: an impressive sequel with an emotional story

Dino Crisis 2 was also remembered for its very emotional ending. After Dylan and Regina come into possession of data that will be essential to rebuilding the time machine, Dylan learns that the person they've been holding captive all along and unable to speak was actually his daughter Paula from the distant future. A hologram of Dylan from the year 2055 explains that humans from the future managed to move the dinosaurs to another time and find a way to live with them, but that the project failed in the final phase when things needed to be returned to the normal that we is known. Announcing that the time machine can only be used once, Dylan's hologram leaves a message that Paula must be rescued. However, at that moment, the building in which the protagonists were located completely collapses, and due to the activated security procedure for the self-destruction of the entire scientific complex. Part of the server machinery will fall on Dylan's daughter, so Regina will have to leave Dylan and Paula with a heavy heart, promising to find a solution to save them when she teleports to another time.

GameSpot gave Dino Crisis 2 a score of 9.2/10 (PS), IGN 9.3/10 and Metacritic 86/100.

5. Dino Crisis

Dinosaurs might rank lower on the horror totem than cosmic entities or mutated humans, but Capcom proves that raptors are just as frightening as they were in Jurassic Park in PS1 classic Dino Crisis. Bearing many similarities to early Resident Evil titles (right down to the director), Dino Crisis made its mark as one of the best horror games of the PlayStation era thanks to its panicky controls and blind corners. Mix in a mad scientist, space-time shenanigans and a classic abandoned island setting for a true horror feast.

#13 Dino Crisis 1 & 2

Oh, you think that Jurassic Park is the only series to depict dinosaurs running loose on an island or other setting? Oh yeah of little faith, video games have depicted that kind of thing plenty of times. Such as with the classic PlayStation titles Dino Crisis 1 & 2.

Long story short, you are part of a team of operatives who are sent to an island (to start) and find out the truth about a dangerous experiment that has allowed dinosaurs to be reborn and then set free on the island.

The games evolve from there but the danger is the same. You never know when the dinosaurs are going to show up, and as such you’ll need to be ready to take them on or flee when they arrive.
