سخنگوی Ubisoft : پی اس 3 با تاخیر خود به Microsoft فرصت داد
Months after Sony announced that the PLAYSTATION 3 will be launching in Match 2007 instead of the promised November 17th in Europe, Ubisoft's Alain Corre has said that he believes the delay will give Microsoft an edge in the continent.
Speaking during an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Corre pointed out that his company has planned 3 PLAYSTATION 3 games for the year and said that he "would have preferred the PS3 to come in, but it wasn't a big part of our business plan this year, and it can easily be replaced by the extra sales we'll do on 360 games that would have been cannibalised by PS3 games." Ouch.
Corre also cited the price of the two competing consoles as a reason for him believing that Microoft would gain an advantage out of the delay: "The PS3 and the 360 are not cheap, so once people buy a machine they won't neccessarily by a second one three months after that or even a year after that. So I think for Sony, the earlier the better now."
Sony will be launching the PLAYSTATION 3 on the 11th this month in Japan and on the 17th in North America.
دراکولا برای ps3 :
The Collective announced today that "Harker," a new survival horror game is in the works for the PS3.
The game is based on Bram Stoker's Dracula, and will star Jonathon Harker, as he works towards his goal of avenging Dracula's attack on his precious Mina.
"Harker's goal is to bring an in-your-face, visceral, and personal style of combat to the survival horror genre," said Nigel Cook, producer. "None of these vampires are going to die with one shot. They're going to fight for their survival, which will give the player a huge level of satisfaction when they successfully execute one."
With a tentative release in 2008, keep a look out for more information in the months to come.
Denis Dyack : Xbox 360 vs. PS3
In a recent interview with San Jose Mercury News, Denis Dyack, president of Silicon Knights, spoke his thoughts about the Xbox 360 vs. PS3 debate.
First, Dyack stated that he believes the Xbox 360 and PS3 are somewhat even..."The 360 and the PS3 are equal in power in my eyes," he said. "Maybe the PS3 has more processing power [but] the 360 has more available memory. It's pretty much a net. The public perception of the PS3 was that it was much more powerful. To developers, they look even."
However, if you look at the specs of the PS3 and Xbox 360 you will notice that both the consoles have equal memory at 512mb. The Xbox 360 using shared 512mb and the PS3 having 256MB XDR Main RAM @3.2GHz and 256MB GDDR3 VRAM @700MHz. Depending on how developers use the memory, its about the same. Now looking at the power of the two consoles, the PS3 wins this by a long shot, processing data at about 2 teraflops, where as the Xbox 360 processes data at about 1 teraflop.
The second thing that Dyack talked about was the difference between 720p and 1080p resolutions. "On the topic of 1080p resolutions vs. 720p, 1080p and HDMI (which is standard on the PS3) cable interfaces have the edge, but both look quite good. It is questionable if there is a difference between 1080p and 720p. All of our games are likely to be 720p because of the faster refresh rates. There are all kinds of trade-offs. It takes a lot more RAM to do 1080p. You'll reserve RAM for the textures. 720p is just less pixels. There is definitely a huge difference from 720p and analog." Now to say that there is not much difference between 720p and 1080p is lying. Take a look at this diagram for example. You will find that 1080p resolutions are much better projecting more pixels for a more realistic look.
So that pretty much sums up the interview, another developer stating that there are hardly differences between the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Now keep in mind, Silicon Knights is currently developing Too Human, an Xbox 360 exclusive. So that would make you wonder if they have gotten a chance to truly check out the PS3 and its power for developing magnificent games. Or perhaps the company will not say anything drastic for fear of angering the opposing side. Either way, you can expect to see a lot of developers stay neutral in this heated debate over the console wars
