We know many of you choose to have your Xbox One in Instant-on mode, so that your console will wake up and automatically download updates. Many of you also elect to use the Update System button, to trigger the system update when it's convenient for you!
However, some of you may want to keep your console in Energy Saving mode, and you may not want to/remember to use the system update button. When the update becomes mandatory, currently your console will take you out of your experience, and give you two options: Update, or Turn Off. Many of you told us this wasn't a great experience, and we've listened!
With the most recent update, we've added a third option: Skip and Go Offline. This can be used to postpone system updates while your console is in use. This feature can be especially handy if you're playing a single player game, or while watching live TV, as many of us are glued to our TVs during the World Cup! The one thing to note is you will not be able to access Xbox Live services while your console is offline, so if you are streaming content, or using an app; you will be unable to continue.
The bits are already there, but you won't see this option until the next time we update, and you'll only see if it you do not update your console via Instant-on or the system update button. If you do get the chance to use this option, give a twirl and let us know what you think!
