price drop on 14 March
The price of the 360 could be set to fall by as much as GBP 40, according to industry chatter. Acting on the claims of “numerous well-placed games industry sources”, Techradar.com is reporting that Microsoft will be officially slashing the price of all three 360 SKUs by EUR 50 (About GBP 38) across Europe on 14 March.
Although neither Microsoft nor the retail sector have formally confirmed the cut, it would have a dramatic effect, were it to happen.
At the upper end of the scale, such a price drop would mean the Premium and Elite SKUs would cost around GBP 210 and GBP 260 respectively – a fair deal cheaper than the GBP 299 40GB PS3.
Meanwhile, the price of the entry level Arcade SKU would fall to GBP 160 – around GBP 20 less than the Wii.
With Easter just around the corner and the release of GTA IV looming larger on the horizon, the timing would certainly be perfect.
If there’s so much as a whiff of an official announcement, we’ll let you know as soon as we do.
