Xbox 360 and Gateway FPD2485W.
* means resolution is messed up
COMPONENT w/ 1:1 on
Component always enlarges the image until only two black bars are seen.
480p: black bars on left and right (this is a little strange but the image doesn't seem distorted, but it looks pixelated anyways, no good; the Wii will look bad I think oh well)
720p: black bars on top and bottom (some subtle image flickering, need to adjust the image I think)
1080i: black bars on top and bottom (pristime image)
*1080p: image is squished to a 4:3 image, black bars on left and right
The previous user mentioned something about his screen flickering green. Mine doesn't do that. I remember on the FPD2185W, when I set it to 1080p (and the specs said no 1080p supported over component), the image would be a messed up green. This image is colored correctly but is scaled to 4:3. So, actually, I'm thinking this is an issue with the Xbox. It has had several problems supporting 1080p on certain displays.
VGA w/ 1:1 on
I just got to say right now, you have no idea how beautiful 1080p is over VGA. you must get this cable. It is a step beyond component.
VGA does not always enlarge the image. There can be two or four black bars present.
640x480 (480p): mapped exactly at 640x480 pixels on the screen, remaining area is black
*848x480 (widescreen 480p): mapped at 640x480 pixels so image is distorted; image is green, unusable
1024x768: mapped
*1280x720 (720p): scaled 16:9, black bars only at top and bottom; but image is green
1280x768: mapped
*1280x1024: image is mapped to something, distorted
1360x768: mapped
1920x1080: perfection, one of the best images i've seen
