An adventure that will be enjoyed by H.P. Lovecraft's fans with a good setting but certain lack of action/puzzles making its story its strongest weapon to chain you to its desperation abyss.

Strong in atmosphere, weak in gameplay, Call of Cthulhu is a missed opportunity to build a great lovecraftian experience.

Call of Cthulhu’s successfully evokes Lovecraft’s Mythos by delivering an eerie story that ultimately doesn’t stray too far from some well-trodden ground. While anyone expecting a terrifying horror title or an RPG packed will player choice and decisions will need to check those expectations at the door, there’s at least a half-decent adventure game lurking under the surface.

Horror fans, heed the Call of Cthulhu and plunge yourself into an expertly produced Lovecraftian mystery in a finely paced, hybridized adventure/RPG package that, while mostly linear, delivers more depth than its contemporary genre rivals.

Call of Cthulhu is horror comfort food. The equivalent of a dog-eared horror paperback found on some dusty used bookstore shelf. The game isn’t particularly daring or terrifying, but it is a well-written and crafted bit of low-stress spookiness. A handful of ill-conceived sequences drag Call of Cthulhu down a notch, but, thankfully, they aren’t enough to fully sink the game.

آقا نقدت رو کامل خوندم، به نظرم با توجه به متنی که نوشتی یکم نمره بالاتر می‌دادی بیشتر خوشحال می‌شدیم!
جدا از شوخی به نظرم بازی فارغ از مشکلات فنی و تا حدودی گیم‌پلیش مسلما تجربه خاصیه ولی شاید بزرگترین مشکل بازی قیمتش باشه، اصلا منطقی نیست ۶۰ دلار پول بگیرن واسش!

If the devs had simply dropped the skill points and let players freely explore at their own pace, it would have been a better experience. It’s still a good one, though, and a required play for anyone with even the slightest interest in the mythos that inspired it.

Worth Playing 6/10

Call of Cthulhu is a genuinely fun and engaging adventure game that is unfortunately dragged down by everything else. The story is engaging and fun, the mysteries are creative, and it does justice to the sense of otherworldly terror that is at the centerpiece of the Call of Cthulhu pen-and-paper game. Unfortunately, the stealth and combat sequences pull down the game and prevent it from being an easy recommendation.

Call of Ctulhu successfully impacts the player with its atmosphere and story which makes you curious as you play. The places we see in the game and the story is well made, but we also see the effects of low budget developments in the overall package

اتمسفر بازی خداترین چیزی هست که تو این بازی نمونش تو هیچ بازی دیگه ای پیدا نمیشه، امیدوارم بودم کیفیت فنی و هنری بازی خیلی بالاتر باشه ولی حیف هرچی داستان و اتمسفر خفن هست میره زیر دست استدیو های کوچیک!

واقعا نمیدونم چرا یه سری سایت ها 4 و 5 دادن بهش. بازی خیلی خوبیه با توجه به بودجه و محدودیت هایی که تو ساخت این نوع عناوین هست. از منظر اتمسفر یکی از بهترین هایی هست که اخیرا تجربه کردم.

همون جور که کاوه تو نقدش هم گفت، آوردن یه آثار لاوکرفت به بازی های کامپیوتری خیلی سخته، این استودیو کوچیک فرانسوی هم به نظرم کار خیلی بزرگی کرده و نتیجه اش هم حداقل توی داستان و اتمسفر و حتی گیم پلی خوب شده.

اون رو Frogwares (یکی از استودیوهای محبوب من و سازنده سری Sherlock Holmes) میسازه که توی بازی های معمایی مو لای درز کارهاشون نمیره

Although there are a few environments in the game that feel fully realized, and sections of story and dialogue that hint at a much more satisfying gameplay experience, Call of Cthulhu only sporadically engages with the imagination of Lovecraft and too often seems like a sketch that needs to be more completely filled in, shaped and polished. Once again, the particular genius of Lovecraft has eluded us in .the video game form

There are hints of a great game buried under the decaying leviathan that is Call of Cthulhu, but they are interspersed with the detritus of too many disparate or poorly executed ideas that those hints feel more like broken promises than unrealized ones.
