There are guns blazing, mysterious winged creatures, a symbolic tattoo, an elusive blue elixir, an unresolved murder and big stunts, yet Max Payne is surprisingly lacklustre. Based on a video game, there's plenty happening on screen, but it's hard to feel much for any of the characters, even Mark Wahlberg's brooding Max, who is obsessed to avenge the senseless murder of his wife and child. The storytelling is secondary to the action with adverse results as director John Moore battles to create a credible world couched between reality and fantasy. To me, the most striking element is the production design in which perpetual snow falls, gusts whirl over a snowy backdrop and torrential rain teems down soaking volatile characters at vulnerable moments.

When we first meet Wahlberg's Max, he is freefalling in an ocean filled with dead bodies. In voice over, we hear that it is not heaven, in which he believes, but pain, fear and death. We quickly understand the world in which Max lives: one that involves loneliness, regret and hate. We watch in superficial fascination as Natasha (the stunningly beautiful Olga Kurylenko) tries to seduce Max, wearing a flimsy, ultra short red silk dress with thigh-high black boots, but he is only interested in her tattoo. Then there's Natasha's hard-nosed sister Mona (Mila Kunis, unrecognisable from her likeable character in Forgetting Sarah Marshall), Chris O'Donnell as a drug company executive and Beau Bridges as BB Hensley, head of security. Frankly it's hard to believe any of them. Amaury Nolasco however, is terrifying as Jack Lupino, whose handsome features are decorated by two large facial tattoos and whose demons come alive all too often.

There's no shortage of firepower (Max shoots everyone in sight) and even if you ignore some of the plot's unanswered questions, we are left with a cavalcade of bullets, noise and chaos. The sum of the parts is more impressive than the whole and more's the pity.

Unquestionably energetic and visually stimulating, Max Payne is non stop action, with everything made in the equivalent of writing in capital letters. You can't miss the revenge mission, nor the profound hurt suffered by Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg) on the loss of his pretty wife and baby girl, nor the evil conspirators who've developed a drug for soldiers that only works a little bit and sends everyone else mad. It's this drug that is the cause of all the evil and the reason why the corporation that developed it wants to kill the story - and anyone who knows about it. But no spoilers here ....

Mark Wahlberg gives it all he's got and Olga Kurylenko gives a glimpse of what to expect from her in Quantum of Solace as the 'Bond girl', all long legs and bedroom eyes and slinky hair. Mila Kunis, playing her sister, gets limited screen time as an action heroine, while Beau Bridges makes a good fist of the ex-cop whose friendship with Max Payne is pivotal to the plot. All the supports are fine and the stunts are rigorous, but after about 30 minutes the interest wanes. Loud and often badly sound mixed so dialogue is muffled, the film starts to wear us down with its relentless gunfights in which only the good guys can hit a target.

I've said before that I never trust a film in which the protagonists have conversations or even arguments in the pouring rain - without umbrellas. In this film that happens more than once. It suggests that rain is used merely as an effect - like flickering lighting, which I also scorn as cheap cinematic trickery.

I suspect there is a legion of fans who will get a lot more out of Max Payne than me, and they'll no doubt sigh with relief at the ending. I just sighed

فیلم رو با ماتریکس زیاد مقایسه میکنن که به نظر من کار اشتباهی هست که مسلما زیر سایه ماتریکس قرار میگیره .

در مورد اون Max Payne is non stop action هم زیاد نباید رو اکشنش مانور بدن به نظرم اگه داستانش هیجانی باشه بهتره تا اینکه همش بزن بکش های مسخره رو ببینیم
به نظرم استفاده از اکشن تو این فیلم هنر میخواد ( البته استفاده بجا و به موقع از اکشن )

Rotten Tomatoes نميري اصلا؟! اين دو نقداشون هميشه اونجا هست . منتقد هاي Urban Cinefile هستن هر دو ، هر دو هم فك كنم از منتقد هاي استراليايي هستن . توو MC كه هيچ نقدي نيست در مورد Max Payne توو Rotten Tomatoes هم فعلا نقد همين دو نفر رسيده ، كسري هم نقد خواست منم اين دو نقد رو دادم بهش گفتم يكي دو روز صبر كن تا نقد هاي بيشتري در بياد . وبلاگ مبلاگ هم ميرفتم ميتونستم نقد پيدا كنم ولي همين دو نقد رو دادم تا بخونه تا فردا كه همه ي نقدا در بياد . همين .

نویسنده های Iron Man و لوئیس لتریر (کارگردان هالک) تو مصاحبه هاشون گفتن که هالک دشمن رسمی در فیلم Avengers خواهد بود (این دقیقا می شه عین Ultimates 1 که یکی از شاهکارهای تاریخ کامیک بوک هم هست) که با توجه به پایان هالک قابل حدس هم بود (کما اینکه من خودم خیلی قبلتر گفته بودم)

Just when you thought that Mark Wahlberg was on his way to become a major player in Hollywood, after his Oscar-nominated role in ?The Departed,? he takes the wrong route and a step downward, which might damage his career, in ?Max Payne,? a deafeningly noisy, structurally messy, aggressively violent adaptation of the popular video game.

As is known, ?Max Payne? was developed by the Finnish company Remedy Entertainment, produced by 3D Realms and published by Gathering of Developers in July 2001 for Windows. A sequel called "Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne," was released in 2003. According to various reports, the "Max Payne" franchise has sold over 7 million copies. Thus, Fox execs probably were hoping to allure the aficionados of the video game to their inane picture.

And they probably will: Bad movies like "Max Payne," which has only one major competitor in the marketplace this weekend, Oliver Stone's biopic W," make quick cash in wide playout, adding some money to the vault without leaving any other impact.

The best element of ?May Payne? the movie is its brief running time, though it?s quite excruciating to watch what?s unfolding on screen for at least half of this time, unless you enjoy poorly staged mayhem. At one point, Payne is shooting indiscriminately, everything in sight.

The other good thing is sort of a preview of the new Bond girl, the beautiful Russian actress Olga Kurylenko, as femme fatale Natasha, soon to be seen in ?Quantum of Solace,? opposite Daniel Craig.

The focus of the game series was on shooting, as it involved using bullet time to gun down your enemies, who drop some ammo when shot. But the movie offers the kind of visceral pleasures that only indiscriminating young males would enjoy.

Essentially, ?May Payne? is a simple, conventional, and even primitive revenge saga. Wahlberg plays the titular role, a man who still suffers the pain of losing his beloved wife and baby girl. Committed to (actually obsessed with) vengeance, he goes on a mission to ?restore justice.?

In the background, there?s an incoherent conspiracy saga, dominated by assassins, who seems to be the target not only of the police force, but also of a greedy corporation. The tale resorts to a bunch of clich鳬 prime among them is the notion of a nasty, ruthless ?Big Business,? here in the form of a drug company, an evil empire that is exploiting its discovery of a particular drug with selective, if also detrimental effects.

Several good actors are wasted in supporting roles. Beau Bridges plays Hensley, the former cop who?s now head of security and friends with Max, and Chris O?Donnell, who has not made a major movie for a while, is miscast as a top exec of the drug company.

Wahlberg can?t humanize the one-dimensional character he plays, and so he acts like a robot in a video game, following inner dictates and outer instructions without a will or desire of his own.

Though a novice, Kurylenko has the smarts to play her femme in a cool, borderline campy style, beginning with her seductive outfit, a mini red dress and long black boots that cover long and shapely legs.

As Natasha? sister, Mila Kunis (who was so appealing in the charming romantic comedy ?Forgetting Sarah Marshall?) can?t do much with her narrowly defined role other.

As expected, the dialogue is mostly banal and kept to minimum, so that overseas audiences would be able to comprehend the plot just by watching the film.

The movie is also a step down for Irish-born helmer John Moore, a craftsman who previously helmed "Behind Enemy Lines" (2001) and "Flight of the Phoenix," all secondary, impersonal projects that rely more on technical than dramatic values but delivered the goods as actioners. The tone of the dramatically uninvolving "Max Payne" often changes from scenes to scene, and what you are left with is a series of serviceable set-pieces that are visually compelling in the most visceral and superficial way.

"Max Payne" progresses (or escalates) as a series of increasingly more graphic and violent shoot-outs, unfolding as a series of climaxes linked together by a skeleton of a script and the main character played by Wahlberg

فعلا همين سه نقدي كه توو اين تاپيك گذاشتم توو Rotten Tomatoes قرار داده شده (هر سه هم منفي) توو MC هم كه هيچ نقدي نيست . فردا همه ي نقد ها حاظرن .

What we need are people who play video games and respect them to make these movies. I'm convinced that after this, Hitman, and anything by Paul W.S. Anderson that Uwe Boll's actually one of the best ones we got, and that a simple fan can do Max Payne better and would waste a lot less money and time. As a stand-alone action movie, I was still kinda bored by it. But as a fan of the Max Payne series, I was genuinely insulted. Hollywood died with Kubrick

بنده در دهات مالزی زندگی ميکنم.
راجع به فيلم فکر ميکنم همون ريتم کند فيلمه که باعث شده خيلی ها راضی نباشند.
به نظر من اون Demon ش رو هم بهتر ميتونست درست کنه.(شبيه کلاغ بود :))

در مورد Max Payne هم بايد بگم اينطور كه از قضايا معلومه مثل اينكه بهترين فيلم اقتباس شده از گيم همين فيلمه ولي از اونجايي كه هرچي فيلم تا حالا از رو گيم ساختن بلكل گند زدن رفته ، اين فيلم با اينكه يه فيلم كاملا متوسط محسوب ميشه از لحاظ سينمايي ، ولي در مقايسه با فيلم هاي اقتباس شده از رو گيم قبلي ، بهترين محسوب ميشه !

خوب بعد از Hurt Locker که گویا بهترین فیلم Live action امسال بود و اکرانش رفت واسه 2009، یه چند روزیه که میگن The Road هم اکرانش عقب میفته تا سال دیگه، The Reader هم که مشکلات قبلیش حل شد و حتی هاروی واینشتاین(تهیه کننده)از فیلم کنار کشید، حالا میگن کارای موسیقی فیلم شاید نرسه به اکران امسال، The Soloist جو رایت هم گویا رفته واسه 2009!Defiance هم شاید بره واسه 2009!!همینطوری پیش برن اسکارو TDK میگیره امسال

W و Frost/Nixon هم که خیلیا میگفتن عمدی داره ساخته میشه تا قبل از انتخابات ریاست جمهوری امریکا ملتو یاد دو تا از بدترین رئیس جمهورای تاریخ بندازه که جفتشونم جمهورین، جفتشون اکران شدن و تا حالا نقدایی که دیدم گویا هیچکدوم خیلی مالی از آب در نیومدن ولی W میگن مفرحه بد نیست،Frost/Nixon هم که میگفتن دو تا بازیگر مردش شانسای اسکارن تا حالا نقدای متوسطی گرفته.
یه فیلمیم که دو سه هفته ای میشه خیلی داره سروصدا میکنه تو اینترنت Let the right one in ه که یه فیلم سوئدیه در مورد عشق یه آدم معمولی و یه ومپایر!داستانش چرت به نظر میاد ولی هرکی دیده بسیار کف کرده حتی یکی گفته بود سوئد جای everlasting moments باید اینو میفرستاد!یه فیلم دیگه با این داستانم امسال از رو یه کتاب پرطرفدار ساخته شده به اسم twilight که گویا آشغاله. البته هد فیلم سوئدیم هم هنوز هیچی نشده دارن ورژن انگلیسیشو میسازن!
Max payne هم ریویوی ورایتیش اومده(البته مک کارتی نیست)که گفته کلا فیلم چرته مخصوصا داستانش

كاملا معلومه چرت گفته !! يك سري فيلم هاي مثل RE.Hitman.Silent Hill علاوه بر فروش بالا تونستند مخاطبان عادي رو هم جلب كنند.كسي كه نقد كرده گويا خيلي كينه داشته. ديگه وقتي فرد كه نقد كرده حتي براش فيلنامه Silent Hill كه راجر اوري نوشته مسخره باشه پس بهتره نظراتشو براي خودش نگه داره !!
پ.ن : البته منبع خيلي معتبره اما خب چرت گفته :biggrin1:

3 تا نقد خودنم توي همش به بد بودن فيلنامه گله كرده بودنتوي همشون نوشته بودن فيلم اكشن مفرحي هست و توي همشون گفته بودن والبرگ خيلي خوب بازي كرده. با اين تيكه خيلي حال كردم :biggrin1: ( البته توي تمامشون اون بهترين اقتباس از يك بازي دونسته بودن و توي يكيش هم گفته بود از فيلم Hitman خيلي بهتر هست. )

As for the film's connection to the video game, John Moore does find a little bit of redemption. He incorporates some of the nuances of the game - a ticking watch, a heartbeat, flashbacks - that will probably make fans happy.
