Still, the overall experience of Black Ops 6 is enjoyable, mostly due to its willingness to work in a variety of different ideas and approaches to its levels before bringing you back to the familiar and reliable shooting of a million enemies. Black Ops 6 is at its best when it gives you all its tools and lets you loose to deal with a problem as you see fit. It provides a lot of those opportunities, adding just enough to the underlying gameplay that you get the satisfaction of formulating a strategy and executing it, as well as the fun of dealing with the fallout, whether it goes to plan or not. Black Ops 6, like Black Ops 2, combines gameplay ideas to make something that feels a little different from the usual for Call of Duty, and while not every system or addition is a knockout, taken together, they make something that shows how Call of Duty games can grow without losing what makes the franchise great.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 plays it safe but is otherwise exactly what Call of Duty multiplayer should be: fast, fun, and a little on the ridiculous side.
Black Ops 6 isn't just a strong new entry in a massive franchise that feels like going to Burger King and getting exactly what you ordered. It's the most confident Call of Duty has been in years, with both Raven and Treyarch taking a few well-calculated chances where they could afford to do so, and trimming the fat off the core 'Twitch FPS' experience that regular customers come for year after year. As a direct result, the whole package becomes a really easy recommend to anyone with even a passing interest in military-themed competitive shooters. Respawn issues and small glitches are a thing, but there's a rock-solid offering of varied FPS thrills here that are just well-executed all the way through. As the kids say: we're so back.
This is an excellent first-person shooter with best-in-class multiplayer, a stunning story mode and over-the-top, enjoyable zombie smashing
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a return to form and gives a great blend of action, intrigue, and beautiful chaos. It is exactly what the franchise has been missing and is a wonderful continuation of the Black Ops storyline all while setting the stage for the story to continue.
With a fun campaign, incredible multiplayer, and the return of round-based Zombies, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the best Call of Duty game in years.
Overall, we got a surprisingly good Call of Duty this year, and it's exactly what the series needed after the last very weak Modern Warfare III installment. It offers a very impressive campaign with some unique missions, but also a nice return of the zombies back to the basics of attacking in waves, and the massive multiplayer part has been brought to life nicely by omnimovement.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has one of the best campaigns in the entire Call of Duty franchise, bringing an exciting and well written story, beautiful graphics, a never seen movement freedom thanks to the new omni-movement system and extremely diverse and creative missions, that instigate the player to explore different possibilities for each mission, changing completely its approach and being rewarded for it.
If you ignored or missed COD parts in the latter, you should take a look at "Black Ops 6" at the latest - it's worth it!
Black Ops 6 does enough differently to stand out in the recent wave of Call of Duty games, bringing one of the best campaign and multiplayer modes in the long-running franchise. While we need to wait and see how Zombies pans out, it’s a solid entry - so much so, that I can say “Call of Duty is back”.
Black Ops 6 is CoD at its most fundamental level: smooth, fast-paced and extremely cool, but definitely not visionary.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is, for now, a big yes. After a 'Modern Warfare 2' that was a step backwards and a 'Modern Warfare 3' that clearly had a DLC flavour, Treyarch is stepping strong with this heir to 'Black Ops Cold War', with a campaign rich in references and with very varied and attractive levels that knows how to give the player what they ask for. The multiplayer and the zombies are more than fine at launch, but in a few months the game will be a different story and will be very different with the additions and changes that are made, hopefully always for the better and not spoil anything.
Despite the qualms I have with the maps, though, Black Ops 6 is a real return to form for the franchise, which goes to show that some extra time in the lab makes all the difference. I can’t wait to see what Treyarch’s post-launch plans have in store
With the best Call of Duty campaign in years, and a tweaked movement system that comes to life in multiplayer, Black Ops 6 is both a return to form and a great entry point for new or lapsed players. Just don't expect it to do anything interesting with the Gulf War setting
Black Ops 6 is the best title in the series for years. It’s still a maniacal first-person shootfest that many players will absolutely detest; no critics of games that glorify the military-industrial complex are going to be converted at this stage. The design team, though, knows its audience and serves them accordingly while doing just enough to move things forward and try some intriguing little segues. I would happily play a whole game in which I could customise the flamboyant safe house to make it more comfortable for my cute little family of spec-ops sociopaths; I would play a whole survival horror adventure set in the world that Emergence concocts. Nothing in this series has ever lingered with me as long as the nuclear bomb explosion in Call of Duty 4 – but these violent delights, I feel, have staying power.
Another year brings another iteration of gaming's FPS royalty, and perhaps more so than its relatives, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a rather convincing argument for why the series remains on top.
Unbelievable but true, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 succeeds where the license has failed for years: it has managed to create a surprise and renew its formula, finally! It's an excellent episode, one of the best of the series by far.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 doesn't reinvent the wheel nor does it rise to the genre's greatest heights.
Black Ops 6 is easily the best Call of Duty campaign in years and one of the year’s best first-person shooters. It strays from what one might expect from a Call of Duty campaign (an onslaught of set pieces with a few moments of respite to break up the action) in favor of an anthology of cool and memorable ideas for levels. Its story doesn’t go anywhere Call of Duty hasn’t before, but the variety of its mission design more than make up for it.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's single-player campaign makes progress in some ways, but it's still stuck in the recycling of the past. There are some noteworthy moments, but the excessive diversity of the missions creates a sense of saturation. There is hope that future releases will be more ambitious.
First of all, its campaign: exceptional and very long-lasting, the developers have succeeded in mixing gruffness and subtlety, and we're not in a race for action at any price. The HQ system is a nice touch, allowing you to learn more about past history and characters, and the storyline is admittedly out of the ordinary. What's more, the work done on the environments is quite insane, and on PS5 we had no texture problems whatsoever. As for Multiplayer and Zombies, there will certainly be some happy and some unhappy players, but as far as we're concerned, there's not much to say except that we loved them! They both have a lot of potential, and the changes like TTK and the new maps are great. It remains to be seen whether the developers will support them in the future.
The best Call oF duty game in years, The campaign is leaps and bounds above anything they have done before and the new omnimove now gives me all new ways to get angry at the multiplayer!
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 removes whatever imaginary stench Modern Warfare III left behind by revitalizing the franchise with a standout campaign, engaging multiplayer, and a nostalgic yet innovative Zombies experience. The seamless launch with minimal issues speaks to the 4-year development cycle, resulting in one of the most polished COD entries at launch in recent memory. The campaign’s rich narrative, enjoyable mechanics, and sheer variety adds depth and excitement to the single-player experience. Meanwhile, the multiplayer mode strikes a perfect balance between familiarity and fresh gameplay, ensuring that both new and returning players feel right at home. With its return to classic round-based Zombies, Black Ops 6 successfully appeals to long-time fans while offering enough new content to keep everyone invested all year round. Overall, this installment not only meets but exceeds expectations.
After years, Black Ops 6 brings back the missed spirit of the Call of Duty series! Developed by Treyarch, the game is about the 1991 Gulf War and deep CIA conspiracies. It innovates the genre with its shooting feel, character development, omnimovement and classic zombie mode.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a familiar Call of Duty experience, albeit improved with a unique new setting and incredible gunplay. Fans of Black Ops’ campaigns, multiplayer, and Zombies modes all have something to get excited for in this latest addition to the franchise.
The multiplayer with omni-movement makes a very good impression. Especially the new Kill Order mode is a welcome addition. The return to classic round-based zombies is a smart move and will get a lot of players back to Call of Duty. For the fans of Call of Duty, Black Ops 6 is one of the most complete and refreshing parts in years. With a campaign that is at least a lot better than Modern Warfare 3, a wide range of modes, new maps and the new omni-movement system, the series is recovering a bit. With Black Ops 6 you get a very complete package with many hours of content.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a good overall package that mainly implements refinements. Omni-movement is a fine addition and the single-player mode is a nice afternoon snack, but it is the Zombies mode that takes the cake with delicious improvements and a return to basics.
Overall, then, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a massive success for Xbox. This year's COD is packed with content across its three main modes, and Game Pass players will be able to enjoy this one for months - especially when additional seasonal content starts to release. Raven Software's campaign mode is a blast, multiplayer is the best it's been in years, and while Zombies isn't what it once was in our book, it's still a fun third mode to mess around with. If Call of Duty can continue to remain this high-quality each year, Microsoft has a winner on its hands, but for now let's just enjoy Black Ops 6 for what it is - a cracking COD game and a fine example of a console FPS.
After an excellent campaign, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 signs a multiplayer and Zombie just as successful. These are even the best online modes for a long time, carried by a new movement system that will stick to your skin. Everything, absolutely everything has been the subject of the care of the Treyarch teams, from the gameplay to the maps, through the progression system and of course, the legendary Zombie. It's been a long time since we've seen Call of Duty in such shape, and it's great fun. An episode not to be missed, that's for sure.
We thought that this year again Call of Duty would continue to do the bare minimum to feed its community, but we were wrong. Black Ops 6 is indeed returning to quality, and we find ourselves with what is undoubtedly one of the best episodes of the last 10 years, whether it's the single-player campaign, the gameplay, the Zombies mode, the Multiplayer, everything has been carefully worked on to make the overall experience worth it. We were pleasantly surprised, starting with the campaign which varies the situations, with sometimes more classic and spectacular missions, but also more open levels, with finally interesting things to do. The game becomes less directive and even allows itself to try things with unexpected supernatural sequences at this level. We even have to face bosses, something unheard of for a Call of Duty game. The introduction of omni-movement brings a lot to the game, with larger, more natural movements that make the game more fluid, and with which we can combine a more nervous, more impactful gunplay. In multiplayer, the experience is also very pleasant, with a Zombie mode that returns to the sources and the waves to shoot down, even if we have to make do with two poor maps at launch. Fortunately, multiplayer and Warzone are there to fill this gap, especially since this year the new "Execution Order" mode is undoubtedly one of the best finds in the series.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, although not without its faults, is far and away the best Call of Duty game to release in almost a decade.
The game’s held back by a poor selection of maps, which are some of the worst launch maps we’ve seen to date, but overall, this is a fantastic return to form, especially through the Zombies mode and campaign. Black Ops 6 gives players exactly what they want, while also laying the groundwork for the future.
Giving a final verdict on Black Ops 6 won’t really be possible until a year’s time, when support is ended and the next Call Of Duty takes over. But it’s clear this is a superior entry in the franchise and at least as good as 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot. There is no weak link here, with the campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies all being good to great iterations of their respective modes.
Major changes to the movement system that greatly affect the Pvp Dynamics, an excellent story among the best in the series with its most diverse stages, a zombie mode with a deep progression system, and multi-layered maps that make us feel that we are looking at one of the most balanced and well made versions of Call of Duty in a long time.
Zombies is great this year as usual. The single player is very entertaining, although some missions are a bit boring towards the end. The multiplayer is polarizing. Known problems (spawns, bullet registration) have not been addressed. Although the new way of moving allows for very spectacular actions, the high pace also ensures a high entry threshold. Black Ops 6 is a good Call of Duty as a total package, but will not convince dropped out players. Black Ops 6 is too safe for that - even for a Call of Duty.
Strong campaign, solid zombie mode and a multiplayer mode with potential: Black Ops 6 is a strong package overall, although more could have been done.
Overall, this is rock solid multiplayer, with lots of different modes to pick and choose between, you can play alone or with friends, and there are endless hours of fun. A big step in the right direction for the multiplayer part of the series. In any case, it is absolutely certain that I still have many hours of fun ahead of me.
Modern Warfare had a great run, but Black Ops is now back on top in their ongoing sibling rivalry. Fluid character movement, high-tempo multiplayer, evolved Zombies co-op, and an incredible campaign come together in 2024's most irresistible first person shooter.
Black Ops 6 excels in delivering an adrenaline rush Campaign with the most variety of mission types we've ever seen in a Call of Duty game, featuring rock solid Multiplayer and Zombies modes, with a massive amount of content to dive into from the get-go.
Between Omni-movement, map design, and new options for loadouts, Black Ops 6 is full of relatively small adjustments that fit well with the underlying Call of Duty formula, without drastically changing it. Those adjustments often do tend to favor one kind of play over others--the bunny hopping, dolphin diving, in-your-face aggressive approach--but that's not necessarily always a bad thing, and playing with Black Ops 6's new movement system makes for some phenomenal action moments and great-feeling gunfights. The effects of Omni-movement and smaller battlefields have a tendency to have a limiting effect on what works in Black Ops 6 multiplayer at times, but with well-built maps, quick traversal, intense weapons, and interesting loadout options and rewards, the things the game does well are still a whole lot of fun.
Call of Duty is so back. A campaign that returns to form, the best multiplayer suite of the current console generation of COD's, and a chaotically fun Zombies mode. Black Ops 6 delivers in every way.
One of the best Call Of Duty games in years, with one of the greatest campaigns in the franchise's history, along with solid, if somewhat less ambitious, multiplayer and co-op modes.
Following the launch woes of Modern Warfare 3, the FPS heavyweight series marks a very strong and impressive return to form in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Its single player campaign is one of the franchise's best-ever efforts, the multiplayer is jam-packed with engaging content, and the Zombies mode seems just as good as it always is when Treyarch is leading things. It never really went away, but Black Ops 6 feels like Call of Duty back at its modern peak
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is a true return to form for Treyarch and a great showpiece for Raven Software.
Black Ops 6 is to Call of Duty what Battlefield 3 was to its series, something new that finally offered an alternative to a repetitive formula. Now, it is up for Activision and Treyarch to build on it. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is not the best Call of Duty release. Depending on who you ask, it may not even be the best Black Ops game. That said, in a world where the series has become synonymous with overpriced, cheap multiplayer combat and vapid campaigns, Black Ops 6 is a breath of fresh air. This game will go down in history one way or another. It is either the last good Call of Duty made, or the first of a new era with good titles again. Treyarch has a long way to go if a sequel is to be called great, but for the first time in a decade, Call of Duty may have a future again
