I really, really enjoyed Prey. A pitch perfect marriage of Science-Fiction and Horror, Prey is close to what I imagine a modern, FPS Dead Space would be like, with a liberal helping of System Shock sauce sprinkled on top.

Prey's dynamic gameplay adapts beautifully to players as they explore an interesting space station crawling with bizarre alien life forms. Its involving action proves entertaining when combined with a solid base of resource management. Despite a few presentation problems and minor issues, Prey is one mind-altering trip that should be played by fans of the genre

Prey's greatest success is its approach to choice and exploration. For players looking for a direct and focused single player shooter experience, this will undoubtedly disappoint and perhaps even frustrate, but for players looking for a smart and immersive world rife with intrigue and tension, Prey is a quality companion for some true classics.

تو نقد IGN با همین جمله ی منتقد کاملا مشخص میشه که با چه کارکتر، منطق و زاویه دیدی روبرو هستیم:

If the PC version of Prey hadn’t become completely unplayable from crashes and save-game corruption just as it was hitting
its stride, I’d have called it a very good or perhaps even great game​

طبق منطق و البته کلام ایشون اگر بازی مشکلات مربوط به کرش کردن و خراب شدن سیو رو نداشت شخص ایشون بازی رو بصورت یک عنوان بسیار خوب و حتی Great قلمداد میکردند! ولی چون ایشون مشکل سیو و کرش داشتند که البته دیگه هر آماتوری میدونه که به جز خود بازی هزار و یک دلیل دیگه هم میتونه در این موضوع دخیل باشه؛ پس در نتیجه ایشون به بازی نمره 4 که برای یک عنوان AAA عملا به معنای زباله هست رو دادند، باشد که سطح Professionalism خودشون رو به رخ تمام رسانه ها و گیمرها بکشند و مشت کوبنده ای باشه به دهان Bethesda ـی جهان خوار! انصافا به شدت دلم برای روزای خوب IGN با منتقدهایی مثل Charles Onyett تنگ شده...

شخصا بازی رو از روز ریلیز دارم بازی میکنم و تقریبا حدود 8 ساعت تا الان بازی کردم و کوچکترین مشکل کرش و یا مشکل مربوط به سیو نداشتم. ظاهرا طبق اعلام های رسمی این مشکلاتی که این استاد بیان کردند فقط مربوط به یکسری موارد خاص بوده که خیلی سریع توسط سازنده ها در همون روزای اول با یه پچ حل شده.

بازی مثل هر عنوان دیگه ای مشکلات و کاستی ها و در عین حال نکات بسیار مثبت خودش رو داره؛ ولی چیزی که مشخصه اینه که تیم سازنده برای این بازی به معنای واقعی کلمه وقت و فکر گذاشتند و اینو تو ثانیه به ثانیه تجربه این عنوان میتونید احساس کنید. یکسری از المان ها و طراحی هایی که در بازی به کار رفته مواردی هستند که مثل هر اثر هنری دیگه ای بسیار سلیقه ای هستند و متاسفانه یا خوشبختانه همونطور که انتظارش هم میرفت برخوردهای به شدت سلیقه ای هم باهاشون شده و علت این نوسانات عجیب غریبی که در نمرات میبینید هم همین هست؛ لذا اینکه گیمرها بالاخره 4 ـه IGN رو باور کنند یا 8.5 ـه Polygon یا حتی 9 ـه GamesRadar کاملا به عهده خودشون هست...

به هیچ وجه قصد مقدس سازی و الکی بالا بردن بازی و سازنده ها و تعریف و تمجید های تو خالی و جوگیرانه رو ندارم ولی به جرات میتونم بگم که این بازی عنوانی هست که باید زیر دست Kevin VanOrd ها و Charles Onyett ها نقد میشد نه یک مشت آماتور با صرفا ادعای حرفه ای بودن که از نقد ها و نوع بیان ـشون کاملا مشخص هست که نگاهشون به این حرفه ی پیچیده از ریشه و اساس کاملا غلط و اشتباه هست...

EDIT: پیرو صحبت هایی که دیدم دوستان در مورد مقایسه بازی با نسخه اول کردند و اینکه چرا اصلا اسم این بازی رو هم Prey گذاشتند باید بگم که بازی هیچ ربط خاصی به نسخه اول نداره و اصلا قرار هم نبوده که داشته باشه و دلیل این موضوع و صحبت های سازنده ها رو که سال پیش منتشر شده رو تو این مقاله میتونید بخونید:

اخه ايشون يكي فعالترين كاربراي سايته ، اگه به بخش سرخط خبرها بريد پستهاي ايشونو ميبينيد
من هميشه به اون تاپيك ميرم و خبرهارو دنبال ميكنم ولي چند روزيه خبري از اين كاربر نيست
تو اكثر قسمتهاي انجمن ايشون فعاليت دارند و خيلي كارشون عاليه
احتمالا به اينترنت دسترسي ندارن يا مشكلي براشون پيش اومده .

من چون اخبار رو از طریق صفحه اصلی دنبال میکنم و فقط واسه نمره ها و تردهای بازی میام فروم شناختی از ایشون نداشتم و الان که شما گفتی دیدم اشتباه برداشت کردم و پستمم پاک کردم و هم از ایشون بابت قضاوت زود هنگام معذرت میخوام هم از شما ممنونم که من رو آگاه کردید

It's no Half-Life 2 of current gen, but deep, demanding and exploration-rewarding gameplay with mind-twisting story makes unforgettable experience.

Hardcore Gamer : 7
Overall, Prey is a fun game with its highlights rooted in beautiful yet creepy levels that contain a lot to explore, but its lack of originality sadly holds it back quite a bit.

While it may be easy to say that much of Prey has been done before, whether it’s the space station setting or emergent gameplay, there is more than enough subtlety and nuance to set it apart. Consequential upgrades, smart resource management, engaging difficulty, and a mysterious story make Prey a game worth fighting for.

Despite these niggles, I was left feeling satisfied after the post-credits scene. I’m already planning on diving back in and fixing the mistakes of my first run. Prey makes you feel clever, excites, intrigues and, at least once, can be absolutely terrifying. But, hey, at least you can turn into a toilet roll now. If you’re looking for one of the most interesting triple-A video games this year, it’s over here disguised as a sci-fi shooter.

Prey is a great survival horror FPS that inherits the best elements from Bioshock and Dishonored, and although it does not reinvent the genre, it features well-polished mechanics that deliver a high level challenge for players.

Coming into this game expecting maybe an above average alien shooter, I was actually really impressed. It has the makings of a BioShock or System Shock while keeping it fresh with new abilities and full exploration to play how I wanted. The horror elements are there and work well, and while the story isn't the best out there, it is enough to keep people playing. If you're looking for a new horror game or even a game much like Dishonored where freedom to do what you want is the main crux, Prey is the game for you.

Prey is a bold entry in sci-fic genre of first person shooters that takes inspiration from classics like System Shock. Despite a lackluster combat system, the game offers plenty of exciting moments with its brilliantly designed inter-connected world of Talos 1 that is a joy to explore.
