Patch 5.5: The Collapse of Time
Temple of the White Tiger — Prison
"If you had another chance, what would you do? Warchief...?"
"Forge a new Horde out of Blood and Iron, to conquer the world with steel and flame," Garrosh blurted without any hesitation.
A mysterious man fixed his eyes on a particular tome resting upon a pile of toppled books in the corner of the prison cell. The Warchief had clearly given them a cursory glance.
Noticing the man's eyes, Garrosh snorted, "That stupid human child! He actually wanted me to learn about all the pain and destruction caused by the Horde's wars!"
The mysterious man took a long, thoughtful pause, and then whispered, "Ah, yes... Warchief, the opportunity you need—the opportunity to rewrite history—is rapidly approaching..."
The title of the tome was Rise of the Horde.
"Time is like a line, and there exist several other parallel timelines which never intersect. We exist in every timeline, but they are not identical.
"The Soul of Time was a treasure of the Bronze Dragonflight which maintained the equilibrium of our timeline, preventing it from crossing paths and coming into contact with another parallel timeline. With that treasure destroyed, our timeline will begin to lose its balance until it eventually collides with another nearby timeline.
"As for you, Warchief... I want to send you into the past of the timeline that we are about to collide with. There you can lay the foundation for a true Horde forged from iron. When the two timelines collide, you will have your opportunity to return to glory and make your mark on history."
"What are you plotting? Why would you help me?"
"I have my reasons, but I will never stand in your way—be it in this world's future, or that world's past."
Patch 6.0: Warlords of Draenor
Aided by Kairoz, Garrosh finds himself in a patch of barren land on the world he once knew as Outland: Draenor.
"Who are you!? You dare enter Warsong Clan territory alone!?"
"I am named Garrosh. I wish only to help you train your warriors, nothing more."
With Garrosh's help, Grom Hellscream's forces mastered combat and quickly controlled half of Draenor. Some time later, at Garrosh's urging, Grom's Warsong Clan continues its expansion in a bid to conquer the rest of Draenor.

Having obtained Gul'dan's evil magic, the draenei's technology, and the source of Terrok's strength, Grom Hellscream and the Warsong Clan have become the undisputed rulers of Draenor. More importantly, Velen's retreat from the world has prevented Draenor from becoming a pawn in the Burning Legion's devious schemes and the threat of demonic blood corruption is no more.
