Q: What can you tell us about The Sims 4?

Q: When will The Sims 4 be available?


A: The Sims 4 will be available worldwide in 2014.


Q: What platforms will the game be available on?


A: The Sims 4 will be available for PC and Mac.


Q: What will The Sims 4 be rated?


A: The Sims 4 is not yet rated by the ESRB, PEGI or other rating systems. We will update the website once we’ve received our rating.


Q: Will there be an online component for The Sims 4?


A:There will be additional fun and social gameplay elements for players who choose to go online (more to come on that later on) but the core game is designed to be played offline. It’s up to the player to choose how they want to play.


Q: Will The Sims 4 require a persistent online connection?


A: You will not require a persistent online connection to play The Sims 4.


Q: We noticed that the fans were amongst the first to receive this announcement, why did you go that route?


A: The Sims has always been about the fans. There are millions of them across social networks and it’s passion that keeps The Sims alive. It’s their creativity and devotion to The Sims that fuels our creativity, so it’s natural that we’d come to them first with the big news.


This is just the beginning for our fans. We’re bringing a select few into our inner circle and they’ll get special access to the development team and will have visibility into key parts of the game as it develops.

Q: Who are some of the people that are making The Sims 4?


A: The Sims 4 is currently in development at The Sims Studio in Redwood City, and the team making the game is comprised by veterans whose experience dates back to the inception of the franchise. We have folks like Robi Kauker, Lyndsay Pearson and Kevin Gibson who have been with the series since the beginning. Others such as Ray Mazza and Samantha Miceli have been with the team since The Sims 2. We can’t wait to introduce you to more of the team.


Q: What do the eyes in the image mean?


A: They say that the eyes are the window into the soul. Let’s just say that these eyes are a window into the future of The Sims 4. Stay tuned for more!


Q: What are the minimum hardware requirements for The Sims 4?


A: We are working to make the game accessible to as many players as possible. We will let you know once we’ve locked in the specs.


Q: Are you still developing content for The Sims 3?


A: Yes. We have a brand new world, Dragon Valley, coming out at the end of May. We have The Sims 3 Island Paradise shipping on June 25 and we have a Future-themed expansion arriving in Fall 2013. Beyond that, we continue to create content for The Sims 3 Store​

حیف شد... خیلی امید داشتم بهش. و واقعا، واقعا... هیچی Sims 2 نمیشه! تنها چیزی که من از Sims میخوام، یه خورده محدودیت هستش! باید یه خورده محدودیت قائل بشن! مثلا تو Sims 2 نمیشد حیوونا رو کنترل کنی، اما تو Sims 3 میشد این کارو کرد... نشون ندادن سوار شدن و پیاده شدن از ماشین... میشه هر کاری دوست داری بکنی (منفجر کنی، وسایل دانشگاه و ... رو بفروشی) و هیشکی هم کاری به کارت نداره! نمیدونم فقط من هستم که محدودیت میخوام، یا همه اینطورین... آخه بدون محدودیت بازی واقعا مسخره ست...

اتفاقا من هم به دلیل همین مشکل بی قانونی و نا محدودی سیم 3 رو بازی نکردم خیلی مسخره شده بود

Hi everyone, I'm glad you're enjoying the interview and the new details!

I wanted to take a minute to further clarify something that it appears is still causing some debate.

The Sims 4 doesn't have "districts". We have a world (Willow Creek), and within that world is five distinct neighborhoods that all have a different feel to them... think of Los Angeles for example, the neighborhood of Bel Air is uniquely different than Hollywood, but they're both part of LA. Within each of those neighborhoods are up to five lots, which can be a residential or a community venue. Via the use of Manage Worlds (which replaces Edit Town), you can freely change any of the lots in any neighborhood to be either residential or community.

(Semi-confusing side note...) We do in fact actually have a sixth neighborhood in Willow Creek, we just don't refer to it as a "neighborhood" when we're talking about the game because it has a single large lot in it. You're free to visit or modify it as you would any other neighborhood, but it was built specifically to be a gorgeous park for Sims to enjoy in the great outdoors.

The unique difference in The Sims 4 is that there is a lot of game play in what we're calling the public spaces of these neighborhoods. Public spaces are the areas that are not part of a lot, and now in The Sims 4 we can place all of our interactive objects out into these public spaces. When Sims are on their lot, they will still consider autonomously using objects that are out in these public spaces - they are no longer confined to their artificial intelligence only thinking about what is on their currently active lot. Consequently, more Sims will want to be out in these public spaces; it makes the neighborhoods come alive with interesting Sims to watch or go out and interact with. It's a fantastic change that helps our Sims feel more intelligent and lessens the impact of a lot edge as an artificial boundary.

The end result of all of this is that we can pack way more game play into these public spaces than you would have seen in the worlds of The Sims 3. They have lots of interactive elements, they're beautifully decorated and landscaped, and they're always lively with your neighbors and other various Sims going about their daily lives. It gives us the added benefit of not always needing a lot to fill a particular Sim's desire... for example, some of the neighborhoods have typical park objects, children's playground equipment, and bathrooms out in these public spaces for all Sims to enjoy. We do still use community venue lots for certain things (like the Gym for example), because Build Mode tools have to be used on a lot.

Now, when you're traveling between a world, a neighborhood, or a lot, you will incur a short load. There is only one lot that's "active" at any single time, meaning if you want to use another lot you will travel there. This allows us to have 20 Sims actively running their full simulation at any time in the neighborhood - that area includes both the public space and your active/loaded lot. When you travel between lots in the same neighborhood, everything that was occurring in those public spaces persists... after the load all of the same Sims will still be where they were, doing what they were doing before you started loading. It's all feels quite natural when moving around the neighborhood rather than being a disruptive experience.

Counting the number of lots in a single world is a rather arbitrary number in The Sims 4 though, as you can freely travel, move, work, visit, etc, any world, neighborhood, or lot while still retaining the information about who your Sim is, their belongings, their relationships, their family, etc.

I hope that helps everyone better understand how the game functions!

هه هه سال قبل هم همینطور بود متاسفانه! این عکس افرادی هست که در کنفرانس حضور داشتن (وضعیت رو کلا نشون میده :D):

والا چی بگم! بازی بیشتر به سیمز 2 شباهت پیدا کرده و این چیزیه که شماها میخواین دیگه نه؟؟ :D بازی دیگه اون عظمت و آزادی عمل رو مثل سیمز 3 نخواهد داشت. البته یه نکته خوب هم وجود داره که بعضی از وسیله هایی که در نسخه های قبلی تو EP ها بودن الان تو بیس گیم هستن مثل پیانو و خوانندگی و یه چندتا وسیله دیگه که خب، کم هستن. به نظر من آب و هوا و حیوانات باید تو نسخه اصلی باشه ولی چون اینا موقع EP شدن فروش خوبی دارن اینارو همیشه رو EP ها عرضه میکنن. کلا من دیگه از سیمز قطع امید کردم چون همونطور که خودت گفته بودی دیگه بنیان گذار سری ویل رایت نیست بالا سرشون و سری کلا به جهت دیگه ای میره. سیمز میتونست بهترین و عظیم ترین شبیه ساز زندگی باشه که مطمئنا نشده! فقط شده یه وسیله پول درآوردن! این همه هایپ که فن سایت ها میکنن نمیدونم برای چیه!! شاید برای تملق باشه! شایدم EA بهشون پول میده تا اینطور الکی ملتو هایپ کنن.

Let me help explain aging options a bit more clearly.
First, you can globally set the lifespans of Sims to be short, normal, or long. This applies to all Sims, no matter if you’ve played them or not. Second, you can choose if unplayed Sims (any Sim that you’ve never taken control over) automatically ages or not.
Third, for Sim families you have played as (for rotational gameplay), you can enable or disable automatic aging and it will apply that setting to all of those families simultaneously. You do also have a third choice for played households to set it so that only the family you’re currently playing automatically ages, and all your other played households will pause their aging until you’re currently playing them again.
Further, in Live Mode, you can use a birthday cake to age up not only your own Sims, but you can use it to age up other unplayed Sims without having to play them, at the time of your choosing.
Someday I would love to expand the aging options so that they can be set per household, but we’re already shipping robust options in the base game that give you a variety of approaches to how you play.

Angellulu asked: When you say we have a loading screen between lots, does it mean that when I would travel my Sim from home to lot that is included in the same neighborhood, he/she still has to go through a loading screen? What about the lively streets, can we be part of it, or is it out of reach? I’d like my Sims to walk on street outside as well, even if it is out of bounds from other lots. Will this happen? I wouldn’t want to be confined in a single lot, watching every other Sim have fun outdoors…


Graham replied: There is never a load screen when you walk off a lot into those public spaces in the neighborhood that you’re in. By all means, have your Sim run out there and have fun! Every Sim you see at any time when you’re playing can be reached and interacted with without any loading whatsoever.

You will need to load when you walk onto a different lot in the same neighborhood than the one that is currently your active lot. When you arrive there, that lot will become the active/loaded lot with Sims on it doing stuff, and all of the Sims who were in those public spaces in the neighborhood will still be there doing the same thing they were doing before you switched lots. Because time continues to pass while you’re off in different neighborhoods, and Sims continue to simulate even when they aren’t loaded, when you travel to a completely different neighborhood and then return to the first neighborhood, the Sims who were there previously will have changed.

SimGuruGraham replied: Correct. After the loading screen finishes you don’t start inside/on the lot, you start on the sidewalk in front of the lot. Whether you choose to walk onto the active lot or wander off into the neighborhood is entirely up to you. No matter if you’re traveling to another lot in the current neighborhood, to another neighborhood, or to a different world entirely, you’ll always select a lot as your destination because there is always one active lot.
